Artist Book - medium format analogue photo printed on linen, hand embroidery with cotton
90cm x 130cm
I was travelling through the darkness at the speed of light.
In this collaborative textile work, we capture the paradox of being alive: how we move through shadow and uncertainty at an impossible pace and somehow arrive bathed in light.
The piece combines analogue photography and hand-embroidered text, into a landscape where night and day, memory and presence, meet and exist.
We are drawn to the invisible velocity of human experience. How we carry light inside the very darkness we pass through and to be the light in dark times.
Artist bio: Monica Buscarino and Liv Enqvist are Northern Rivers–based artists whose collaborative practice brings together photography, text and textile. Born in Sicily and now based in Australia, Monica works with analogue photography and writing, creating image-based narratives shaped by memory, landscape and human connection. Trained in Milan, she worked as a photojournalist before developing her contemporary art practice.
Born in Stockholm, Enqvist is a textile artist whose work centres on hand embroidery, text and slow-making processes. Having lived across Europe, Asia and Australia, her practice explores language, place and the relationship between body, material and environment.
Together, they weave images and language around memory, landscape and the traces we leave behind.
