Caitlin Reilly

I know you are here somewhere

The eye wants to make you believe that there is always something there. A trick of the brain that makes something fully formed and solid given only the slightest glimpse. The suggestion of an object gives rise to the desire to know more. There is something promising in the space a window frames, looking outwards toward another place.

These works map an internal scape and inner dialogue, suggestions of security and safety made real by ephemeral gestures, the act of application.

These works are an extension to previous explorations of surface structure in painting. Caitlin has deliberately chosen a reduced palette to enhance focus, encouraging herself to be transported through the making process into a visceral landscape. Reilly’s hope is that the intended viewer will be similarly moved.
